The mother of Baltimore Orioles Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., was abducted from her Hartford County home at gunpoint on Tuesday night. Vi Ripken was returned unharmed on Wednesday morning.

According to WBAL Radio, Vi Ripken was abducted between 7 and 8 p.m. when a man showed her a gun and forced her into her vehicle, where she was duct-taped. While she was abducted, her credit cards were used. She was found unharmed in her vehicle, which was parked near her house at 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

Ripken is now resting with family members. The Ripken family released the following statement:

As you now know, our mother was abducted at gunpoint from her home yesterday morning. This has been a very trying time for our family, but we are grateful and relieved that mom is back with us, safe and healthy.

We want to thank everyone for their tremendous support, especially all of the law enforcement agencies that worked so hard and quickly.

This is an ongoing investigation, so we hope everyone understands that we cannot comment further at this time. Thank you.

The police are still looking for the suspect, who is a white male in his late 30s to early 40s. The suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt, camouflage pants, and eyeglasses.
