The Giants made a number of roster moves on Saturday following their acquisition of Marco Scutaro. Those moves included placing Pablo Sandoval on the disabled list.

The San Francisco Giants orchestrated a trade for utility infielder Marco Scutaro on Friday, although the deal with the Colorado Rockies went through too late for Scutaro to show up for the Giants' 10-inning loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Saturday, the Giants made a number of corresponding roster moves. To accommodate for Scutaro's place on the roster, the team designated infielder Emmanuel Burriss for assignment. Burriss had been more or less a liability at the plate for the team all season, with a .221 slugging percentage to go with his .214 batting average and exactly one extra-base hit in each of the past two seasons -- both doubles.

The Giants also placed third baseman Pablo Sandoval on the disabled list with a hamstring strain and reactivated Aubrey Huff to take his spot on the roster. Huff's numbers had also fallen off a cliff this year and his stats during his recent rehab assignment in the minors were no better. Huff had been on the DL since injuring his knee while falling over a dugout railing in celebration of Matt Cain's perfect game June 13.

With the Giants hosting the Dodgers for the next two games and leading the National League West by only two games, they’ll need all hands on deck.
