Tuesday night at Chicago's Wrigley Field, Pirates right-hander A.J. Burnett has held the Cubs hitless through six innings. The Cubs' only baserunners came in the bottom of the fourth inning and in the sixth, when Anthony Rizzo and David DeJesus drew two-out walks.

In the sixth, Burnett retired Luis Valbuena on a fly ball, Scott Maine on a high bouncer to the mound, and -- after DeJesus walked -- Starlin Castro on a fly to right field.

Burnett entered Tuesday’s start with a 5-0 career record against the Cubs, and a 3.52 ERA this season. Burnett already has a no-hitter in his ledger, and it was an odd one: in 2001, he no-hit the San Diego Padres despite issuing nine walks.

With Ryan Dempster traded earlier Tuesday, Casey Coleman took the mound for the Cubs, and got rocked for four runs in the first inning. He steadied before being replaced by Maine in the fifth inning, but Burnett will come out for the seventh inning with at least a four-run cushion.
