The new, rejuvenated Chad Johnson experiment appears to officially be at an end. Following Johnson’s arrest on Saturday evening tied to a domestic violence allegation, the polarizing and controversial wide receiver has reportedly been released by the Miami Dolphins.
Chad Johnson Released By Miami Dolphins, According To Reports
According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Dolphins have parted ways with Johnson. As of Sunday, scouts have cleaned out the locker of the player formerly known as Chad Ochocinco. Mike Freeman of CBS Sports confirmed the story, suggesting that the Dolphins did not believe Johnson’s side of the story regarding the incident and arrest.
Johnson was arrested and released on Saturday after allegedly head-butting his wife, Evelyn Lozada. Johnson had just signed with the Dolphins in the offseason and had stated in interviews that he was looking to prove to NFL fans that he still had plenty left in the tank.
It appears that after this last off-the-field incident, Johnson’s NFL career may be over altogether. It would be hard to imagine a team would take a chance on him after this.
