There's been quite a bit of controversy surrounding the Boston Red Sox recently, mostly involving manager Bobby Valentine. You can read more about it here, including comments from Red Sox president Larry Lucchino.

Something that’s noncontroversial and a proposed nice gesture by the Red Sox is buried at the bottom of that article:

On the subject of late Red Sox legend Johnny Pesky, Lucchino thanked Red Sox fans and baseball fans throughout the country for the outpouring of support that has followed the death of the former infielder, commentator and manager.
He noted that the commissioner was “very supportive of the idea” that the Red Sox all wear No. 6 for a game. If that plan comes to fruition, Pesky’s family wants the jerseys to be auctioned off for next week’s Jimmy Fund radio telethon. That’s a fascinating idea and a perfect tribute to an icon of the franchise. Pesky’s No. 6 was retired by the Red Sox in 2008.
