Pistons forward Corey Maggette plans to consider retirement after the 2012-2013 season.
Maggette is entering his 13th year of professional ball, and he’s got just one year remaining on his contract with the Pistons. As he tells Brigham, he’s not really sure what will happen:
I work hard, but we’ll see how long I want to go on after this year. We’ll go from there.
Last season with Charlotte, Maggette appeared in just 32 games while dealing with a variety of nagging injuries. The 32-year-old still averaged a solid 15.0 points per game for the Bobcats, but his 37 percent shooting percentage reflects issues he's had with maintaining efficiency.
While Maggette was one of the top scorers in the league just a few years ago, the injuries have clearly taken a toll. Now, he's simply a role player on a young pistons team led by Greg Monroe and 2012 first-round pick Andre Drummond, although he should still get solid playing team on the wings if he can stay healthy.
