The Chicago White Sox, trying to hold on to a thin lead in the American League Central, have lost their starting center fielder.

From a team press release:

Prior to tonight’s game vs. New York, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Alejandro De Aza on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to August 18) with bruised left ribs and recalled outfielder Jordan Danks from Class AAA Charlotte.

There’s apparently more to it than just the rib injury, too:

De Aza is hitting .281/.346/.398 with 21 stolen bases in his first full year as the White Sox center fielder. Danks, brother of White Sox lefthander John Danks, has been up and down between the White Sox and Triple-A this season; in his last recall he won a game for the team with a walkoff home run, his first in the major leagues.
