The story of the comeback of Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain was inspirational. Tommy John surgery. Freak ankle injury that was nearly life-threatening. Then hard work to come back many months earlier than expected, a dominant rehab assignment, and then...
Yankees Considering Demoting Joba Chamberlain
The new “Joba Rule” could have him in the minor leagues for a few days to work out his current pitching woes.

Thud. Chamberlain has been pretty bad in seven appearances for the Yankees; in 6⅔ innings he’s allowed 15 hits and four walks for a ghastly 2.85 WHIP. Thus, this rumor should come as no surprise:
With CC Sabathia due back from the disabled list on Friday, the Yankees will have to make a roster move to open a spot for their returning ace. According to a source, the team is considering a demotion for Chamberlain, who has struggled badly in his seven appearances.
Chamberlain has minor-league options left, so the Yankees could send him down for 10 days to let him work out the kinks, then bring him back when the minor-league season ends and big-league rosters expand in September. This makes sense, and because MLB rules allow replacement of injured players for the postseason with others currently on the 40-man roster, Joba could still wind up on the Yankees’ playoff roster.
