A man died after falling three stories at Reliant Stadium during Thursday night's preseason game that saw the Houston Texans defeat the Minnesota Vikings, 28-24.

The 45-year-old man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was allegedly attempting to slide down the outside handrail of an escalator on the northeast side of the stadium when he plummeted three stories, landing on an escalator below, according to police reports and Ultimate Texans, the Houston Chronicle’s team blog.

The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital, Houston Fire Department officials said, and police reports say that he likely died at the hospital.

Nina Jackson, a Reliant stadium spokeswoman, could not confirm an exact time of the accident, but an unidentified fan said the fall took place during the third quarter.

Here’s what the fan saw, from the Houston Chronicle’s report:

”He saw the man through his peripheral vision and “heard the very loud noise when he hit the ground.”

No one else was hurt in the wake of the fall.
