Trout To Repeat American League Next Season

“Hands Are Tied” Says Angels’ GM

ANAHEIM--In what some are calling a “tragic waste of talent,” the Angels announced today that Mike Trout will not receive a September call-up this season and will likely have to repeat a level next season.

“I know it might seem selfish not to promote him,” said Jerry Dipoto, general manager of the Angels. “But our Los Angeles affiliate is in the middle of a pennant race.”

“Also, this is the highest league there is,” he added.

Trout said he respected the organization’s decision.

“I totally get why they’re doing this,” he said. “I think if I just keep working hard and listen to my coaches, I’ll eventually get to where I want to be: a proposed ‘super-league’ consisting of me, Andrew McCutchen, Ryan Braun, Matt Kemp, Batman, Joey Votto, Flash, and several other members of the Justice League of America.”

The announcement comes on the heels of the Angels’ 4-0 win over division rival Oakland last night, during which Trout went 2-for-3 with a walk and 3 stolen bases. Over the last two months, the 20-year-old has stolen 27 bases without being caught.

“Yeah, I’m done getting caught on the bases,” Trout said.
