Terrell Owens first practice with the Seattle Seahawks took place Wednesday, days after signing a one-year contract for the 10-year veteran minimum of just under $1 million. Owens was working out of Sidney Rice's flanker position while Rice is on the mend, and he was running by rookie cornerback Jeremy Lane with the same reportedly good speed he had on a 4.43-4.45 forty-yard-dash that he ran for Seattle in his tryout. He told reporters that he is ready to step out of the spotlight:

“That’s what it’s all about for me now -- being a part of something rather than be the center of something,” Owens said.

Analysis: Owens is expected to be fighting for the flanker position opposite of Rice, as well as just about any job on the 53-man roster. However, if he plays well and Rice misses an extended period of time, Owens could find himself as a starting flanker. It's hard to predict what T.O. could do this year after missing all of 2011 with an ACL injury, but he was productive in 2010 with the Bengals. He'll be an interesting late round pick in fantasy drafts.
