Germany Wins Canoe Gold In Men’s C2, Women’s K2
Germany won a pair of gold medals in the lake to continue its lead both in golds and overall medals in canoe/kayak events thus far in the Olympics.

Germany took the men’s C-2 1000m and women’s K-2 500m, and now now has three golds in canoeing and kayaking and eight overall medals -- both of which lead any country at the Olympics. Hungary, on the other hand, caught the bum end of the stick with a pair of silvers: Zoltan Kammerer, on the Hungarian four that took second place, had been looking for a fourth Olympic gold, and Katalin Kovacs, who was on the second-place women’s K-2 boat, had just beaten a German squad featuring Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze in the K-4 Wednesday to end a 16-year streak of German medals before the German pair had their opportunity to exact their revenge a day later.
