Heath Bell used to pitch for the Mets. That didn't work out. Now he pitches for the Marlins, and supposedly hasn't quite taken full responsibility for his struggles this season. Ron Darling is not impressed ...
Don’t be shy, Ronnie.
Here’s Darling during Thursday afternoon’s broadcasting, with Bell on the mound:
How long has he been in this league? ... I don’t know Heath Bell. He plays for the Marlins. I don’t care about Heath Bell. But my whole thing is that, there’s a way about having a bad year. Everyone’s going to have a bad year. I don’t care who you are. And the way is, take responsibility, look in the mirror, and blame yourself. Don’t bring anyone else with you, don’t this bad spiral you’ve got working. Take it yourself. Be a man about it. I stink this year. I’m going to try to be better. Done.
Darling went on in this vein for a while. He was prompted by partner Gary Cohen, who seems to have read Bell’s comments here.
