Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Josesito Lopez have a contract stipulating a few more weigh-ins than is customary in boxing. The two men had to weigh in for their bout, live this Saturday night on Showtime, at both the 30-day and 7-day mark. Last month, at the 30-day weigh-in, the fighters had to be within ten percent of the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds. At that time, Canelo checked in at 167.2 while Lopez was 166.5.
Canelo Vs. Lopez: Fighters Make Weight At 7-Day Weigh-In
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Josesito Lopez both make it under the 162 pound mark one week before their Showtime Championship Boxing bout.

This past Saturday, the two men hit the scales for the week-out weigh-in with Canelo coming in at 159.8 while Lopez was an even 160. The stipulations were that the men had to be within five percent of the contracted weight at this point, meaning under 162.
This is a bit of a surprise as Canelo is the much bigger man and has fought at higher weights throughout his career, while much of Lopez’s time in the ring came at 140 pounds and below.
Canelo will still be the bigger, stronger man come Saturday night, but Lopez doesn’t appear on track to be much lighter.
