Two errors by Detroit and two home runs for Chicago capped a four-run swing in the sixth inning as the White Sox defeated the Tigers, 6-1, Monday night in Chicago.

The win moves the Sox three games ahead of the Tigers in the AL Central after the series-opening win.

The Tigers scored first on an RBI single from Jhonny Peralta. In the sixth, Alex Rios hit a three-run home run and A.J. Pierzynski followed with a solo shot two pitches later to extend the lead to 4-1. It was a disaster inning for Detroit, as starter Rick Porcello had pitched well up to that point and the Tigers' defense committed two errors in the frame.

A two-run home run in the eighth from Gordon Beckham put the game away.

White Sox starter Jose Quintana allowed one earned run on seven hits over 7 ⅓ innings in the start and recorded the win. Rios went 2-for-4 and Beckham went 2-for-3. Eight of the nine batters in Detroit's lineup had one hit.
