Update: Colombia 3-1 Chile, Final Score
Chile Vs. Colombia, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Game Time And TV Schedule
Can Teo, James and Falcao bring the same energy to their match in Santiago as they did in Colombia on Friday? Chile will hope they don’t.Follow @SBNationSoccer
Chile lost two of their first three matches in CONMEBOL qualifying in embarrassing fashion, but they’ve since righted the ship and look likely to make it to the World Cup without going to a playoff. They did not play in the last round, so they should be rested compared to their competitors.
However, Colombia have the advantage of momentum. They played their best match of qualifying on Friday, laying a 4-0 beating on Uruguay, who had previously looked like the strongest side in qualifying. They will like their chances to grab a result in Santiago, but they haven't been nearly as good away from home as they have been in Colombia. Meanwhile, Chile have been brilliant at home, even if they've struggled on the road.
Jose Peckerman didn't go away from his two-striker formation against Uruguay's three-man back line, but his tactics worked wonders in that match. Chile also play with a back three, so they should have a marking advantage in the back in theory, but Colombia have proven that it takes more than a simple formation advantage to stifle their center forwards. Chile's defense will have their hands full with Radamel Falcao and Teofilo Gutierrez.
