Yankees Fall In Boston, 4-3, Now Tied Atop AL East

The New York Yankees are now tied for the AL East lead after they lost to the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night.

The Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees, 4-3, Tuesday night, dropping New York into a tie for the AL East lead with the Baltimore Orioles.

Jacoby Ellsbury was the hero for the Red Sox, driving in the winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning. The game-winning single was one of four hits on the night for Ellsbury, who finished 4-5 with two RBI.

Andrew Bailey picked up his first win of the season by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth. Jon Lester started the game for the Red Sox, allowing three earned runs over 5.1 innings. Lester struggled with his control, walking a season-high seven batters.

David Robertson took the loss for New York, dropping his season record to 1-7. Hiroki Kuroda gave up three runs over 6.1 innings. Kuroda entered the seventh inning with a 3-2 lead, but allowed a game-tying solo home run to Dustin Pedroia.

Derek Jeter went 1-4 for the Yankees, including a two-run double while Pedroia drove in two runs for the Red Sox as part of a 3-4 night.

The Yankees are now tied with Baltimore for the AL East lead and have a two-game lead for the second Wild Card spot, tied with Baltimore.
