Walkoff Win Keeps Orioles Tied With Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles continued their winning ways, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 in walk-off fashion.

Presswire

The Baltimore Orioles won again on Wednesday night, this time in walk-off fashion against the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 3-2 in Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Nate McLouth is the latest hero on Buck Showalter's surprising club, stroking an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to propel the Orioles into a first-place tie with the New York Yankees once again.

The night appeared destined to become a high-scoring affair after both teams struck in the first, leaving Baltimore with a 2-1 lead. However, only a Ben Francisco RBI double would bring in another tally until McLouth’s winner.

Miguel Gonzalez gutted out a nice performance, allowing just two runs in six innings despite giving up five walks and six hits.

Alex Cobb wasn't able to go very deep into the ballgame for Tampa Bay, throwing just four and two-thirds innings. The youngster surrendered two runs on seven hits while striking out six in a no-decision.

The two teams will be back at it again on Thursday afternoon with the Orioles seeking the sweep.
