MLS, Week 26 Preview And Matches: The Disciplinary Committee’s Seven-Month Anniversary

The MLS season is nearly over. It’s been fun and it’s about to get more fun as teams fight for playoff spots.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee is now seven months old. It was a grand idea when it began. After all, who doesn’t like to see the wicked punished*?

* Besides Gerald Ford.

Yet here we are, celebrating the grand seven-month anniversary of the Disciplinary Committee and we still don’t know anything about them. They make decisions quickly, except for the times that they are unimaginably late. They probably couldn’t spell consistency and then there is that matter of having no idea who is actually on the Disciplinary Committee.

Here is the complete list of things we know about the Disciplinary Committee: _______.

Sporting Kansas City vs. Houston Dynamo

Friday, 8:30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network

This will be an excellent test of the Dynamo's rebuilt midfield. It's hard to imagine it holding up, but Peter Vermes could have flashbacks to last year's Eastern Conference final and forget what tactics are so the Dynamo have that going for them.

LA Galaxy vs. Colorado Rapids

Friday, 11:00 p.m. ET, Univision Deportes

The Rapids have lost 12 matches away this season and have a -16 goal difference compared to +11 at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. If MLS would just take bribes from clubs in exchange for more home matches then Colorado could fund a whole new officiating program and refereeing wouldn’t be a problem. There’s a creative solution to everything.

Toronto FC vs. Philadelphia Union

Saturday, 1:00 p.m., MLS Live

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, YES SO CAN WE PLEASE RELEGATE THESE TEAMS.

Pick: No one.

Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders

Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, NBC

If the Timbers are all Timbersy in this one then NBC might have a problem with the FCC for televising the execution of Gavin Wilkinson.

Pick: Seattle, 2-1.

New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew

Saturday, 7:00 p.m. ET, MLS Live

I'm sure Markus Holgersson will do just fine against Federico Higuain and Jairo Arrieta.

Pick: Columbus, 2-1.

D.C. United vs. New England Revolution

Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

On the verge of one of the biggest collapses in MLS history, D.C. was handed a break -- a season-ending injury to Dwayne De Rosario. Now they have a laughable excuse, which is what every good choke job needs.

Pick: Draw, 1-1.

Chicago Fire vs. Montreal Impact

Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

Chicago is second place in the East and third place in MLS. If you predicted that before the season your pants are on fire.

Pick: Chicago 1-0.

FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

This is a colossal clash in the race for the final playoff spot in the West so expect fireworks. Unfortunately, a fireworks show would probably draw a bigger crowd in Frisco.

Pick: Dallas, 2-0.

Chivas USA vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Saturday, 10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live

The epic match-up of the team with no seats traveling south and crushing the team with tarped off seats.

Pick: San Jose, 3-0.
