Yunel Escobar has been pulling his best Ozzie Guillen impression all week long. First, the Toronto Blue Jays player (justifiably) drew fire for wearing a homophobic slur on his eye black, then managed to fill his "public apology" with a slew of tired gay stereotypes. But Escobar does have one ally in baseball at the moment. Who is that, you may ask? Why, Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen! And now we have come full circle, my friends.

Shi Davidi of Sportsnet grabbed a couple of extremely unfortunate quotes from the Guillen, who keeps cramming his feet into his mouth as hard and as often as he possibly can. The hot-water-dwelling manager fairly leaped at the chance to defend the slur “maricon” as a problem of semantics.

Not content to leave the pass-the-buck entitlement talk at “common usage changes the meaning of words!” he ALSO managed to touch on the “well maybe it’s just a cultural thing” argument as well. He’s like a one-stop shop of apologist rhetoric!
If Ozzie is trying to further pad his resume for his upcoming job hunt, this ... this is not the way to do that.
