Ohio State Vs. Miami (Ohio): Urban Meyer’s Offense Looked Good In First Week

The Ohio State Buckeyes put on a show in Urban Meyer’s debut as the head coach, pummeling the Miami (OH) RedHawks, 56-10 at Ohio Stadium.

Although Braxton Miller got off to a slow start, he ended the day with over 200 yards passing and a pair of touchdown throws while also setting the school's record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 161 yards.

The Buckeyes sleepwalked through the first quarter of the game, but got the spark they needed at the start of the second quarter when Miller found Devin Smith in what could easily be the catch of the year in college football to go up 7-3. OSU then outscored Miami 49-7 the rest of the way.

All in all, the bloggers at Land-Grant Holyland were impressed with the job Meyer did in his first game as Buckeye head coach.

“Urban Meyer wanted an angry team. While they were far from perfect, if anything, they played motivated, particularly from the second quarter on. While the early struggles will give plenty of teaching moments for a staff in many ways still new to Meyer himself, it’s hard to argue with the results.”
