Josh Hamilton Remains Out With Blurred Vision

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton will not travel with the team to Seattle for this weekend's series against the Mariners, according to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.

Hamilton is still dealing with a mysterious case of blurred vision that Rangers doctors are still working to sort out.

On Tuesday, Hamilton left the Rangers' game against the Los Angeles Angels in the fourth inning with blurred vision, telling reporters that he believed the issue was related to a sinus infection he likely picked up from a family member. Doctors have been unable to peg the actual cause of the problem, though, as Grant notes.

For now, the Rangers are displaying a continued level of concern with Hamilton’s status, albeit with a degree of optimism. As Rangers GM Jon Daniels tells Grant:

It’s concerning any time one of our guys is out at this time of year. More so when the doctors haven’t found anything. At this point, we’re just looking for the symptoms to dissipate so he can get back out there. I’ve got a lot of faith in the team either way, but obviously we’re better when Josh is in the lineup.

Hamilton, 31, has put up huge numbers for Texas this season, hitting .287/.358/.588 with a league-leading 42 home runs. It’s unclear when he’ll be able to return to the field, but the team does appear to expect it at some point this season. For now, it’s a sure thing that the slugger will be sitting out the remainder of this weekend’s series in Seattle.
