Louisiana Tech Vs. Virginia 2012 final score: Bulldogs keep busting, now 4-0

The Virginia Cavaliers fell short against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs despite a frantic comeback at Scott Stadium on Saturday afternoon, losing 44-38.

Virginia led 24-20 at the half before coming completely unglued in the third quarter. Michael Rocco threw two interceptions in the period - one of which was returned for a touchdown - en route to giving up 24 consecutive points.

Rocco was benched following his third pick of the game for sophomore Phillip Sims, who injected some major life into the squad. Sims led two late fourth quarter touchdown drives as part of a day that saw the youngster complete 10-of-17 passes for 166 yards and two scores.

The UVA rushing attack was a two-headed monster with Perry Jones and Kevin Parks combining to gain 142 yards on 37 carries. Jones also played the role of quarterback for a play in the first quarter and showed some skills, hitting on a 36-yard touchdown pass to Tim Smith.

The Cavaliers will try to bounce back from the disappointing loss when they hit the road next Saturday against the Duke Blue Devils.
