The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox combined for 27 runs and nine pitchers, including a trip to the mound by White Sox center fielder Dewayne Wise, as the Twins bashed their way to an 18-9 win on Tuesday.

Twins starting pitcher Scott Diamond lasted long enough to earn his 11th win of the season, surrendering seven hits and four runs in five innings of work.

The night was much shorter for Chicago starter Jose Quintana, who only made it 1.1 innings before getting pulled following seven runs allowed on five hits. White Sox relievers Dylan Axelrod and Leyson Septimo combined to allow only two more runs in the next three innings of work when Philip Humber, who threw a perfect game back in April, entered the game and proceeded to get battered to the tune of seven hits and eight earned runs, while recording only one out before exiting.

Wise -- who also drove in two runs on two doubles -- with Chicago’s bullpen in tatters, took the mound in the ninth, where he allowed a hit and walk but no runs in 12 pitches.

Everyone in the Twins’ starting lineup recorded at least one hit on the night.

The White Sox, however, didn't lose any ground in the A.L. Central thanks to the Cleveland Indians' 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. Chicago's lead in the division remains one game.
