Brewers’ Ramirez Out With Back/Oblique Strain
The Brewers’ third baseman could be out a while.
Through Wednesday, he had played in 126 of the Brewers' 136 games and had a shot at getting into 150+ this year, until he tweaked his back in the ninth inning of Milwaukee's game against the Marlins. Tom Haudricourt:
Ramirez is not in the lineup Thursday against the Marlins after leaving in the ninth inning Wednesday night and the Brewers don’t think it’s serious, but [manager Ron] Roenicke said sometimes you can be fooled by such issues.
“You always worry about those things because they can be more than what a player thinks,” said Roenicke. “When he says, ‘I don’t think it’s bad; maybe just a day,’ sometimes it turns into a lot more than that.
“It’s part of the oblique system; it runs a long ways back there. But I think of it more as a back muscle. They don’t think it’s bad so I’m hoping it’s not very long. It would be a big loss.“The Brewers’ worry has apparently caused them to summon help:

Ramirez was having a fine year, hitting .295/.358/.523 and leading the National League with 43 doubles.
