David DeCastro Put On New Injured Reserve List

The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed guard David DeCastro on injured reserve and have designated him for return, according to the Steelers' official Twitter account.

DeCastro suffered a torn MCL and dislocated kneecap in a preseason game against the Bills on Aug. 25 and was expected to miss 3-5 months. The new NFL IR rules state that a player out at least six weeks can be placed on IR and the designated for return list — meaning the player can return after eight weeks.

That means the Steelers hope DeCastro will be able to return at some point this season.

The rookie DeCastro was drafted by Pittsburgh with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Stanford.
