Former NFL head coach Herm Edwards will lead the American team in the 2013 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl this Saturday. Edwards has been out of coaching since being fired by Kansas City in 2009, and he has since served as an analyst for ESPN.

Former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst Herm Edwards will lead the American team in the Collegiate Bowl this weekend.

Prior to getting into coaching, Edwards played 10 seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles. His head coach in Philadelphia, Dick Vermeil, will be coaching the National team in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. During his playing career, Edwards had the opportunity to play in a Super Bowl, and he was also a key part of the "Miracle at the Meadowlands" -- he scooped up a fumble in the waning seconds and returned it for a touchdown to give his team a victory over the New York Giants.
Edwards entered coaching after his playing days ended, and he got his first head coaching opportunity from the New York Jets in 2001. Edwards was traded by the Jets to Kansas City following the 2005 season and he led the Chiefs for three seasons. He won 56 games over the course of his pro head coaching career, including a pair of playoff wins.
At the Collegiate Bowl, he’ll be helping to develop players who are trying to get noticed by NFL scouts and improve their stock heading into the 2013 NFL Draft.
