Jets coaching rumors: Cam Cameron to interview for offensive coordinator

The New York Jets are looking for a new offensive coordinator, and Cam Cameron could be their man.

Mitch Stringer-US PRESSWIRE

The New York Jets will interview Cam Cameron for their vacant offensive coordinator position, according to Greg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Cameron held the offensive coordinator job with the Baltimore Ravens from 2008 to late in the 2012 season. His offenses in Baltimore were never all that impressive, and he was fired earlier this year as a result. The Ravens never finished better than 13th in the NFL in total offense during Cameron's tenure.

Before his time in Baltimore, Cameron was head coach for one season with the Miami Dolphins, leading the team to an abysmal 1-15 record in 2007. From 2002-06, he was offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers.

Following their regular-season finale, the Jets fired offensive coordinator Tony Sparano after one year on the job. In 2012, New York ranked ninth in the NFL with 25.3 points per game and 16th with 331.7 yards per contest. Both of those numbers were better than Baltimore this season.
