Chicago Bears special teams coach Dave Toub is leaving the organization, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. Toub was a candidate to replace Lovie Smith as Bears head coach.

Dave Toub was a candidate for the Bears’ vacant head coaching job, but he won’t remain with the organization.

According to Biggs, Toub is likely headed to Andy Reid's Kansas City Chiefs staff. Toub and Reid have worked together before, as the former Philadelphia Eagles coach gave Toub his first NFL job as Eagles special teams/quality control coach in 2001. Prior to landing the job in Philadelphia, Toub spent 15 years as a college coach at UTEP and Missouri.
Toub was hired to Smith’s first Bears staff, and he spent nine seasons in Chicago. In 2012, the Bears were in the NFL’s top five in kick and punt coverage.
With Toub out of the running, it isn’t clear who might be the favorite for the head coaching job in Chicago. The Bears have interviewed at least 13 candidates, and there has not been a reported front-runner.
