Ken Whisenhunt was relieved of his duties as the Arizona Cardinals' head coach on Dec. 31 -- and the Cardinals haven't found a replacement yet. According to the NFL Network's Albert Breer, Arizona's insistence on retaining defensive coordinator Ray Horton is complicating matters.
Cardinals coaching rumors: Ray Horton’s presence reportedly complicates search
Arizona’s insistence on retaining defensive coordinator Ray Horton is complicating its search for a new head coach, according to Albert Breer.

Many head coaches like to hand pick their own staff. If Horton is retained as defensive coordinator, Arizona’s next head coach would not have the luxury of picking his own defensive coordinator -- making the job less appealing to potential candidates.
Arizona was rumored to be interested in Mike McCoy, but McCoy accepted the head coaching position with the San Diego Chargers earlier this week. The Cardinals will interview Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Arizona has also interviewed Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley, but Haley reportedly set a "very high" price for Arizona.
Horton himself is also believed to be a candidate for Arizona’s head coaching vacancy.
