Andy Reid interviewing for Kansas City Chiefs’ coaching job

The Chiefs are moving quickly in their coaching search, getting an interview with Andy Reid.

The Kansas City Chiefs are wasting no time in search of their next head coach, as owner Clark Hunt is in Philadelphia to interview longtime Philadelphia Eagles' coach Andy Reid, according to Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs fired Romeo Crennel on Monday and basically stripped general manager Scott Pioli of his powers, leaving Hunt to go about hiring the new leading man with internal advisers. The owner made a point in interviews to talk about bringing in a coach with a proven track record, something Reid certainly has.

Reid also has a connection to Kansas City. Mark Donovan, the Chiefs’ president, was with the Eagles for five seasons as a vice president of operations. According to Geoff Mosher, the two had a good relationship.

Despite the last two seasons, Reid was a huge success in Philadelphia for the most part. The first-time head coach brought the organization to five NFC Championship games as well as a Super Bowl appearance in 2004, which ultimately ended in defeat to the New England Patriots.

Reid won 130 regular season games in his 14 years with the Eagles, the most in the storied franchise’s history.
