The San Francisco 49ers earned a trip to Super Bowl XLVII with a thrilling 28-24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game, leaving All-Pro safeties Dashon Goldson and Donte Whitner unavailable for the Pro Bowl. Instead, Falcons safeties Thomas DeCoud and William Moore will serve as replacements on the NFC roster.
Pro Bowl 2013: Thomas DeCoud, William Moore named NFC replacements
With the Falcons coming up short of the Super Bowl, Atlanta safeties Thomas DeCoud and William Moore will replace two of their 49ers counterparts on the NFC Pro Bowl roster.

DeCoud had a fine season for Atlanta and was a big reason the Falcons had a top-10 pass defense. He compiled six interceptions and nine pass breakups and added 76 tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack. A third-round pick by Atlanta in the 2008 NFL Draft, this will be the fifth-year veteran’s first Pro Bowl appearance.
Moore, who was the Falcons’ second-round pick in 2009, also put up impressive numbers this season. He finished the year with four interceptions and eight pass breakups and had 75 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack. Like DeCoud, Moore will be playing in his first Pro Bowl.
The 2013 Pro Bowl is set for Sunday, Jan. 27. Coverage from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii, will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on NBC.
