Sergio Romo arrested at Las Vegas airport, per report

San Francisco Giants pitcher Sergio Romo was arrested at a Las Vegas airport on a misdemeanor charge.

Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE

The San Francisco Giants' Sergio Romo was arrested and released after becoming "angry and aggressive" with TSA officials at a Las Vegas airport, according to TMZ.com.

Security wouldn’t let him pass after the pitcher apparently could not provide a valid form of identification. ABC7 in San Francisco reports that Romo was detained and given a misdemeanor for violating airport rules at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport.

TMZ added that Romo was handcuffed, detained and then released, but he was not allowed to fly. They reported that Romo appeared to be “under the influence.”

Romo will face a court date in Clark County after the arrest. He was in town for a Dec. 30 party and was on his way back to San Francisco, sources told ABC7.

Romo played a key role for the Giants in their World Series win of 2012. He pitched an inning in three World Series games against the Detroit Tigers, including the final pitch of the series. Romo finished the season with a 1.79 ERA and 14 saves.
