In a back-and-forth affair, the N.C. State Wolfpack pulled away late in the ACC opener to defeat Boston College, 78-73. The Wolf Pack got a late three-pointer from Scott Wood, who put his team up four with 50 seconds left to play. But with a final push from the Eagles, Wood made six straight free throws to ice the game.

Rodney Purvis led the way for N.C. State, scoring 19 on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, including 3-5 from downtown. Richard Howell had a double-double for the Wolf Pack, scoring 12 and grabbing 11 rebounds. Six Wolf Pack players scored in double figures, with C.J Leslie, Lorenzo Brown and T.J. Warren getting in on the fun.

Four BC players got into double figures, but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles. Ryan Anderson had a day, scoring 22 and grabbing 13 rebounds. He got to the line as well, shooting 10 of 15 from the charity stripe.

Boston College will travel to Virginia Tech on Jan. 9, while North Carolina State continues in ACC against Georgia Tech the same day.
