Packers vs. 49ers odds: San Francisco opens as 3-point favorites

San Francisco and Green Bay met the opening week of the 2012 season. The 49ers beat the Packers by eight points.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

The Green Bay Packers had barely regained feeling in their frozen fingers and toes when the opening lines were set for their next playoff game against San Francisco. The 49ers are 3-point favorites and the money line is at -120.

On Saturday night, the Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings 24-10 and earned a plane ticket to visit San Francisco. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rogers knows the Bay Area well, having spent his college years at Cal Berkeley. This will be Rogers first time as a pro playing in Candlestick Park. In his career versus SF, Rogers is 2-1, with all games happening at Lambeau.

The Packers and 49ers met in the opening game of the 2012 season, with San Francisco taking the win 30-22. The big difference between the first game and the meeting in the playoffs is at the QB position for the 49ers. In the victory, Alex Smith was under center. Smith was 20-26 for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He's likely to be on the bench this time around with Colin Kaepernick taking his place.

The teams take the field Saturday, Jan.12, at 8 p.m. ET. Fox will carry the national broadcast.
