Mike Zimmer has helped transform the Bengals' defense from a mediocre squad to one of the league's elite. Over the past five seasons, the Bengals have had top-10 defenses three times, and the defense has led the Bengals to the playoffs in three of the last four seasons. Despite that success, Zimmer has seen very little attention from teams about head coaching vacancies.
NFL coaching rumors: Mike Zimmer making the rounds
After helping transform the Bengals defense into a top-notch unit along with other AFC North defenses, defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is finally starting to get some attention for head coaching vacancies.

That is until now.
Zimmer has recently been making the rounds within the NFL. He is interviewing with the Cleveland Browns for their head coaching vacancy and there are rumors that the San Diego Chargers may also be interested in Zimmer for a head coach candidate.
The Bengals would obviously like to hold on to Zimmer. Their rebuilding attempts have been successful over the last few seasons and the last thing they want to do is lose one of their key coaches as they attempt to make their third-straight playoff run in 2013. Unfortunately for them, the goal of most coordinators is obviously to become head coaches.
