Max Pacioretty injured after taking hit from Colton Orr

Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty had to return to the locker room after taking a big hit from Colton Orr in the first period on Tuesday night.

Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty played just four minutes of his team’s season opener on Tuesday night before he had to return to the locker room with an injury.

Pacioretty was on the receiving end of a big hit from Toronto Maple Leafs forward Colton Orr in the corner. He was slow in getting back to the bench, and did not return for the remainder of the first period.

Not only has the 24-year-old Pacioretty been one of the Montreal’s most productive players over the past two years, he has also been one of the most productive players in the NHL. Since the start of the 2011-12 season, he is 16th in the NHL with 48 goals scored, with 40 of them coming at even-strength (good enough for eighth in the league).

Update: Pacioretty returned during the second period.
