The Houston Rockets have had issues on the defensive end that have recently resulted in a couple of losses against teams that weren't supposed to beat the new-look contender. But they survived another Hack-a-Dwight experience to win 109-106 over the home-standing New York Knicks.

James Harden went for 36 points and nine boards after missing the team's unexpected loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday due to an injured foot. Tonight, the Rockets needed every point.
Except when Carmelo Anthony decided to help out. The Knicks' star intentionally fouled Dwight Howard with less than two minutes remaining, giving the Rockets one shot — which Harden made — and two free throws to Howard, which he hit. The Knicks were unable to catch up from there.
Anthony had three chances to tie the game after stopping Houston twice, but was fouled before getting up a late three-point attempt that actually fell and would have tied the game. Referees ruled the shot came after ‘Melo was fouled on the floor.
Anthony went for season-high 45 points and 10 rebounds and Andrea Bargnani had 24 points to lead New York. But the Knicks did not get much bench support. Tim Hardaway, Jr., Metta World Peace and Kenyon Martin combined for just 12 points in the loss.
Chandler Parsons had 22 points, and Howard grabbed 15 rebounds (though he had just seven points) in the win.
