2013 Breeders’ Cup: Race schedule, post time, odds and more for Saturday

The 2013 Breeders’ Cup comes to a close on Saturday with nine more races from Santa Anita.

Rob Carr

Following an entertaining first day on Friday, the 2013 Breeders’ Cup wraps up with nine more races on Saturday, including the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

One of the most-anticipated races of the year, Saturday’s running of the Classic will be the 30th in race history. With a $5 million purse, the Classic is the richest race in North America. Game On Dude opened as the betting favorite with 8/5 odds. Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Mike Smith, Game On Dude will attempt to cap off an excellent 2013 season with the elusive win in the Classic. He has been perfect this season, winning all five of his starts. He was caught late in the 2011 Classic, finishing second before struggling to a seventh place finish in the 2012 Classic. Mucho Macho Man, at 5/1, and Fort Larned at 6/1 are among the other favorites in the Classic.

While the Classic will be the headline race of the day, it’s only one of nine races. The day will begin with Juvenille Fillies with a post time of 3:05 p.m. ET. Six of the nine races will have a purse of at least $2 million including the $3 million purse for the Turf race.

Those not able to watch live from Santa Anita will be able to watch most of Saturday’s races live. NBS Sports Network will begin it’s broadcast at 3:30 p.m. with coverage continuing until 8 p.m. The Classic will be shown on NBC with coverage running from 8 to 9 p.m. The races can also be watched online at NBC Sports Live Extra.
