Ange Postecoglou names four A-League players to his first Socceroos camp

Ahead of Australia’s friendly against Costa Rica, the former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory manager picked four active A-League players and a host with domestic experience.

Ange Postecoglou, on the job less than two weeks, named his initial Socceroos roster for Australia's November 19 friendly in Sydney against Costa Rica. Among those chosen were four current A-League players and five more who spent at least part of last season in Australia's top flight. Here are Postecoglou's initial A-League selections:

Ivan Franjic - Brisbane Roar

Matt McKay - Brisbane Roar

Mark Milligan - Melbourne Victory

Michael Zullo - Adelaide United

Five more players played in the A-League as recently as last season:

Oliver Bozanic (Central Coast Mariners) - FC Luzern

Lucas Neill (Sydney FC) - Omiya Ardija

Tom Rogic (Central Coast Mariners) - Celtic

Mat Ryan (Central Coast Mariners) - Club Brugge

Dario Vidosic (Adelaide United) - FC Sion

Beyond that, six more spent at least some time in the A-League:

James Holland (Newcastle Jets) - Austria Wien

Mile Jedinak (Central Coast Mariners) - Crystal Palace

Robbie Kruse (Brisbane Roar/Melbourne Victory) - Bayer Leverkusen

Mitch Langerak (Melbourne Victory) - Borussia Dortmund

Matthew Leckie (Adelaide United) - FSV Frankfurt

Tommy Oar (Brisbane Roar) - FC Utrecht

Alex Wilkinson (Central Coast Mariners) - Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors

While Postecoglou's appointment certainly presents a greater opportunity for domestic players, it remains likely that he will keep much of the status quo in the build up toward Brazil 2014. Beyond next year's World Cup, Postecoglou could give more A-League players a look at the Socceroos squad as he looks toward the 2015 Asian Cup, hosted by Australia.
