Earlier Thursday it was reported that the Knicks had interest in Lowry, but it was unclear if they would have the sort of assets that Toronto wanted. The Raptors are rumored to desire a first-round pick in exchange for Lowry, who will be a free agent at the end of this season.

After that Wojnarowski report, ESPN’s Chris Broussard tweeted that New York is refusing to include the pick, which is holding up the deal:

Lowry is also the largest of the Raptors’ expiring contracts this season, and he’s due to make $6.2 million before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer. With Toronto in a rebuild, the opportunity is there for the team to get something in return for the 27-year-old.

Lowry has averaged 14.8 points and 6.7 assists this season and would be a solid addition to a team looking for more backcourt depth. He’s an attractive rental without the long-term cap space issues.
