Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien says he's ready to return to on-ice action after missing five games with a lower-body injury, according to Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press.

The high scoring defenseman is expected to be back on the ice on Tuesday after missing five games with a lower-body injury.

“I just had a little maintenance to do on the lower body, just taking care of it,” said Byfuglien, who stated this latest injury was not related to last season’s knee issues. “We didn’t want it to drag it on and make it happen for the long haul so we took care of it right away.”
Byfuglien was injured during pregame skate against the Florida Panthers on Jan. 31 and did not appear in the game. In six games this season, the 27-year old has three goals and four assists and despite missing five games is still No. 5 on the team in overall scoring.
Defensive partner Tobias Enstrom continues to lead all NHL defensemen in scoring with two goals and 11 assists in 11 games, picking up six points during Byfuglien's absence.
The Jets face the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night, with Byfuglien stating he's expected to be on the ice for the game.
“As of right now, I think so,” said Byfulgien. “Good to go.”
