Percy Harvin trade rumors: Who’s in, who’s out?

Vikings receiver Percy Harvin is looking for a new contract. Will he get it with another team?

Wide receiver Percy Harvin has been a great talent for the Minnesota Vikings since the team selected him in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, but off-field issues have strained the relationship between Harvin and his team. Are the Vikings ready to cut ties with Harvin, and if so, where might he land?

Daily Norseman, SB Nation’s Vikings blog, has been covering the Harvin situation closely. The latest update: He is reportedly going to holdout from all offseason activities until he gets a new contract. Considering how tired Minnesota is of Harvin’s issues -- a positive drug test before the draft in 2009, injury woes, a verbal altercation with head coach Leslie Frazier during the 2012 season -- a holdout could be the final move that pushes the Vikings over the edge. Several teams could try to get in on the Harvin action, and several writers from around SB Nation’s NFL network are weighing in on the possibilities.

The New England Patriots, a team with a history of taking troubled players and reviving their careers, may seem like the best fit for Harvin. He has a ton of speed and skill and would be an asset in the Pats' hurry-up spread offense. However, the folks at Pats Pulpit don't see the move happening. Harvin will likely be too expensive and require too much compensation for New England to make an offer.

Patriots fans aren't the only ones skeptical of a possible trade for Harvin. Writers at Cincy Jungle, Music City Miracles and Turf Show Times, think the combination of Harvin's price tag and his history of off-field issues make him too much of a risk. At Bucs Nation, Big Cat Country, Stampede Blue, Buffalo Rumblings and the Phinsider, that sentiment is shared. Panthers fans at Cat Scratch Reader would be happy to have Harvin, but they know Carolina simply doesn't have the funds to make such a move.

At least one fan base thinks a trade for Harvin would be a good move. The San Francisco fans at Niners Nation know how thin the 49ers will be at receiver after potentially losing Ted Ginn Jr. and Randy Moss, and considering the large amount of draft picks the team has, it can afford to give up a couple. A Harvin-49ers matchup may be the best option for all interested parties.
