Senior Luke Greiner recorded a hat trick, and fellow senior Marshall Everson scored two of his own as Harvard downed Boston University 7-4 in the consolation game of the 61st Annual Beanpot.

Led by the play of seniors Luke Greiner and Marshall Everson, Harvard won the consolation game 7-4.
In a game that was more meaningful to the Terriers, BU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but could not hold on. Freshman Mike Moran scored his first career goal just 3:12 into the game. At the 11:45 mark senior captain Wade Megan extended the lead with his 13th of the season, a shorthanded goal.
Harvard would answer a little under two minutes later when junior Dan Ford scored his first of the season. With just 14 seconds to play in the period the Crimson would tie the game on an unassisted goal by senior captain Danny Biega.
The Terriers regained the lead just over a minute into the second frame with an Evan Rodrigues power play goal, but the lead didn’t last long.
A few minutes later Harvard would strike twice with two goals in less than two minutes. Everson would score his sixth goal of the season, then Greiner scored his first of the night.
With just under four minutes to play in the second Greiner gave the Crimson a two-goal lead while on the power play.
Shortly after Harvard took the 5-3 lead, BU sophomore defenseman Alexx Privitera would take a five minute major. After he was knocked over with a hard, but clean hit at the other end, the Old Tappan, NJ native looked for retribution. The dirty hit sent him to the locker room for the rest of the night.
Right after the major penalty to Privitera ended, Everson scored his second of the night to make it 6-3 Harvard with 16:47 to go in the final period.
Midway through the final frame, BU sophomore Cason Hohmann cut the lead to two on a power play goal.
The score stayed that way until Greiner scored his third of the night into an empty net while shorthanded.
The loss marks the second time in three seasons that BU has finished fourth in this historic tournament. The Terriers have dominated this tournament for so long, but have not lived up to expectations the past few seasons. The loss also knocks Jack Parker’s squad down to 15th in the Pairwise Rankings, inching ever so close to the precarious bubble.
