Chris Canty receives contract offer from Titans
Free agent defensive lineman Chris Canty received a contract offer from the Tennessee Titans, but did not accept it, and instead is continuing to explore other options.

Canty was released by the New York Giants after spending four years in New Jersey. Prior to signing with the Giants, he spent his first four NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
In 2012, Canty was limited to just nine games because of knee and groin injuries. He recorded just three sacks and registered 26 tackles.
Canty is experienced in both the 4-3 and 3-4 schemes -- as a 4-3 defensive tackle, and as a 3-4 defensive end, giving the veteran defensive lineman options this winter as he attempts to find a new home.
The fact that he did not accept Tennessee’s offer indicates that the contract offer was likely conservative in nature, and almost certainly team-friendly.
In addition to the Titans, Canty has visited with the Kansas City Chiefs. Earlier on Wednesday, reports indicated Canty would decide between the Titans and Chiefs.
Jimmy Morris of Music City Miracles believes that Wednesday’s developments are a good sign for the Titans’ future, even though Canty didn’t sign.
In the words of gramsey, the Titans are “not.screwing.around.” They have, according to Jim Wyatt made a contract offer to former New York Giants DT Chris Canty. With that being said, the tweet from Wyatt said that he will continue to explore his options, so the offer the Titans made didn’t knock his socks off.
That is probably for the best though. While most of us hope that they will be more active in free agency this season, we still don’t want them out there spending stupid money.
Just a week into the NFL’s offseason, Canty could wait and see if the market continues to develop for his services -- and it appears that he’s doing just that.
