The 2012 season was not kind to the wide receiving corps of the Detroit Lions. Rookie Ryan Broyles suffered an ACL tear in December, Titus Young sabotaged the offense before being released, and veteran Nate Burleson got through just six games before a tibia fracture ended his season. With Burleson nearly certain to return to workouts in February, a source close to the team reports that the Lions have agreed to a restructured deal with the wideout.

While the deal is not finalized, it would be the former third-round pick’s 11th season in the league and fourth in Detroit. Playing 36 games across those three seasons, Burleson has caught 155 balls for 1,622 yards and 11 touchdowns. A healthy 2011 saw the Nevada product set a career high in receptions with 73.
Burleson came over to the Lions in 2010 after four seasons in Seattle, signing a five-year, $25 million contract. The Lions are also looking to rework quarterback Matthew Stafford's contract in order to stay under a projected $122 million salary cap for 2013.
