Brandon Dubinsky faces discipline hearing for Scuderi hit
Columbus center Brandon Dubinsky was ejected on Tuesday night for a devastating hit on Kings defenseman Rob Scuderi.
Dubinsky received a boarding major and game misconduct penalty for his devastating hit on Rob Scuderi of the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night, that left the Kings defenseman dazed and sporting one heck of a shiner after the game.
At 11:29 of the second period with the Blue Jackets trailing the Kings 3-2, Dubinsky caught Scuderi behind the net with a hit right into the numbers that sent the defenseman face-first into the boards. Mike Richards took exception to the hit, which left Scuderi crumpled on the ice, as he took on Dubinsky in a rather spirited fight.
You can see the fight below, with the hit shown at the 1:00 mark.
Richards was hit with 19 minutes in penalties, including an instigating penalty and a major for instigating while wearing a face shield.
Dubinsky was a key part of the trade that sent Rick Nash to the New York Rangers and has four point in 10 games with the Blue Jackets. He has never been suspended by the league before.
