Jason Richardson injury: Sixers guard out for season after knee surgery

The Sixers can’t catch a break. Just when it seems like Andrew Bynum is primed to return soon, more Philly players get bit by the injury bug.

This is another tough break for the Philadelphia 76ers. Earlier this week, the team found out it would be without forward Thaddeus Young for several weeks due to a hamstring strain. Now, they will apparently be missing Jason Richardson for the rest of the season, according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears.

The Sixers were getting ready to welcome back Andrew Bynum and make a push for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. But that will be a bit more difficult with the recent injuries to the other Sixers players.

Richardson arrived this offseason as part of the three-team trade that also brought Andrew Bynym to Philadephia and put Dwight Howard in Los Angeles, but it hasn’t been a stellar year for the veteran wing. Richardson was averaging 10.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 28 minutes per night before he injured his knee on Jan. 18.
