Marty Brodeur is better than your hockey franchise

The Devils goaltender has been so good for so long that he’s become more successful than nearly a third of the NHL.

Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur has had one heck of a career since his NHL debut way back on March 26, 1992, becoming the all-time leading goaltender in games played, wins and shutouts while continuing to play in a career that has spanned more than two decades.

On Thursday night in a win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Devils broadcast crew on MSG+ highlighted just how incredibly successful Brodeur's career has been to this point:

No only is Marty Brodeur one heck of a successful goaltender, but he’s better than seven other NHL teams!

To be fair to the actual numbers, this graphic showcases Brodeur's longevity and health more than anything else. Not a single team listed above existed when Brodeur made his NHL debut, with the Lightning starting play in 1992 and the Ducks and Panthers the following season.

That’s not to say these stats aren’t impressive. The Ducks, second on this list with 645 wins, did not record more wins as a team than Brodeur did when playing a full season until 2011. The closest Anaheim came was in 2006-2007, with both the Ducks and Brodeur finished with 48 wins apiece.
