There’s a wild affair going on up in Madison, Wisconsin this afternoon between the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines and the Wisconsin Badgers. A back and forth affair all game long, the Wolverines took a 57-54 lead in the final minute.
Wisconsin vs. Michigan: GIFs from wild end to regulation
The ending to the Michigan-Wisconsin game was nuts. Let’s round up everything that happened in the final minute of regulation.
But then, Badgers big man Jared Berggren did this, sending the Kohl Center crowd into a frenzy:
Berggren knocked down the free throw, tying the game at 57. But on the ensuing Michigan possession, Wisconsin elected not to use one of their fouls to give, allowing Tim Hardaway a clean look at a three with just seconds remaining:
But when it looked like all hope was loss for the Badgers, Ben Brust caught the inbounds pass and heaved up a half court prayer with just 1.7 seconds left:
Dan Dakich kept screaming that Michigan should have fouled on that final play, but when you get beat by a 40-foot prayer at the buzzer, then you get beat by a 40-foot prayer at the buzzer. Seems unfair to call out Michigan because Brust hit an absurd shot.
In the end, Wisconsin prevailed in overtime, and Michigan became just the latest top-five team to leave Madison unhappy.
